The planets finally aligned with a combination of good weather and availability and we got to do this walk. We were rewarded with a glorious Friday afternoon of near perfect walking weather: the sun was out for most of the walk, but it never felt overly warm, a light breeze helping with that. This walk swaps the open spaces and remoteness of Dartmoor for the undulations and vertigo inducing heights (and drops) of the South West Coast Path. The scenery, in the bright spring sunlight, is breathtaking with the jagged cliffs diving dramatically into a crystal clear sea.

Signage on this route has been improved since the original peregrination; the incorrect route we took previously has now been marked with a "NO FOOTPATH" sign (see picture). The acorn way-markers along the route also look new and are well placed. In another change, the honesty boxes in the two car parks have been upgraded to pay and display machines: perhaps this is what has paid for the new signage? No worries though, the charge is reasonable (about what I would have put into the honesty box anyway) and it is free for National Trust members.

Uncle Al (the agreed name for John W's new walking staff) was left behind towards the end of the route resulting in impromptu half mile run by Johns S and W to retrieve him.
